Donald Hughes, age 90, Ozark, MO, formerly of Chadwick, MO went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his home.  Don was born in Chadwick, MO on August 19, 1923.  On May 19, 1944 he married Emmo Jean Mitchell, his loving wife of 69 years. This union was blessed with one daughter, Donna Kay Warren of Ozark, MO. Don was a good and faithful servant of his Lord Jesus Christ.  He was ordained as Deacon at the Garrison Baptist Church at the age of 26 where he also served as Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. He enlisted in the Air Force after graduation from Chadwick High School.  He went on to work in construction, becoming a skilled carpenter and electrician. Don was an avid outdoorsman, many life lessons he taught his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were deep in the woods or along a creek bank hunting and fishing.  He always said, “You never feel closer to God than when sitting in the woods at daylight”.  He loved to garden and pick blackberries for his family to enjoy. Don is survived by his wife, daughter Donna Warren and husband Joe, two grandchildren Gayla Brice and husband Rob of Ozark, Ryan Warren and wife Becky of Ozark; four great-grandchildren Logan and Lauren Brice and Bradon and Gracie Warren; one brother Russell Hughes and wife Susie and one sister Lorean Workman. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services for Don were held 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Barnes Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff  Updegreff officiating. Burial followed in Swansville Cemetery, Garrison, MO. Visitation was held 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday in the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
