Jimmie F. Grider

Jimmie Farrel Grider, age 81 of Highlandville, Missouri passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 in Cox South Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family.  He was born October 17, 1932 in the Norwine community, near Highlandville, the son of Hershel (Bill) Grider and Nellie (Essick) Grider.  On January 27, 1964 he was united in marriage to Maxine (Stutesmun) Grider. Jimmie was a farmer and lifelong resident of Christian County.  He enjoyed passing along his knowledge and love of farming to his children and grandchildren and gave each child and grandchild their own unique nickname. Jimmie accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at Frist Central Baptist Church at Green Mound and enjoyed listening to gospel music and preaching on television. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Donald, Billy and Herschel Grider.  Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maxine; six children Mike Grider and wife Kay of Highlandville, Jimmie Leon Grider of Springfield, Diane Mansker and husband John of Falcon, Scott Grider and Terri, Ellie Lowe and husband Rick and Leo Grider and wife Misty all of Highlandville; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Della Haworth and husband Jack of Auburn, Washington, Marian Luttrull of Springfield and Bonnie Ratliff of Rocky Ford, Colorado; one brother, Jakey Grider and wife Gladys; numerous nieces, nephews and many caring friends.Funeral services for Jimmie will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Danny Call officiating.  Burial will follow in Highlandville Cemetery.
