Myrl L. Cox

Myrl Lee Cox, age 93 of Ava, Missouri passed away early Monday morning, July 27, 2015 in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center. Myrl was born July 23, 1922 in the Vera Cruze community, the daughter of Grover Cleveland Vogt and Alma (Riley) Vogt. During her young life she lived in the Brushyknob community on a farm with 10 siblings.  On August 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to Jack Cox who preceded her in death in 1992. Jack and Myrl made their home on a farm in Western Douglas County near Beaver Creek. Myrl worked hard milking cows, sewing, cooking and canning garden vegetables. She was also employed at Spalding Industries. Myrl was known for her green thumb in the garden and always grew beautiful flowers. Myrl was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed local games as well. She loved family gatherings and helped teach her family her sewing talents. Myrl was blessed to live independently except for the last 6 months of her 93 years. Myrl is survived by her son Paul Cox; two daughters Pat Lansdown and husband Ronnie and Jeanne Cox; five grandchildren Doug Lansdown and wife Kristi, Jill O’neill and husband Patrick, Jackie Davis, Joy Davis, Chris Singleton and wife Vicki; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other caring relatives. Myrl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, son-in-law Buster Singleton and beloved daughter-in-law Phyllis Cox. Graveside funeral services will be 10:00a.m. Wednesday, July29, 2015 in Mt. Tabor Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Loftin officiating. Donations are suggested to Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
