William C. “Bill” Gideon, age 79 of Highlandville, MO passed away in the early hours of July 26, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO following a short battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome.  He was born February 25, 1938 in Taney County, MO, the son of Lester & Charlotte (Wilson) Gideon.  On March 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Linda Payne. Bill worked as a mechanic for most of his life.  After his retirement, he was still tinkering with everything from tractors to chainsaws, from Buicks to bulldozers.  Seemed like there was always something needing fixed (or something he had taken apart that needed put back together).  When he wasn’t working on a project, he loved to fish, and was a member of Finley River Bass Club for several years.  Bill was a good hearted man who would lend a hand to anyone. His rough exterior was just a cover for the big ole teddy bear inside, especially when it came to his grandkids. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; daughters Charlotte Good, Cindy Hogshooter and husband Bob; one son Tim Gideon; two step-daughters Marleen Taylor and Donna Scroggins; grandchildren Jarrod, Amanda, Brett, Cody, Brandon, Kacey, Tucker, Leona, Billy and Bobby; nine great-grandchildren including Michael & Lylli of the home; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters Violet Gann, Rosemary Thornton and Stella Jussel and husband Leroy; one brother Les Gideon; a host of nieces & nephews & extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Gideon; step-son Billy Jones;  brother-in-law Leroy Gann, first wife Leona and best fishing buddy and friend, Fred Getman. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow at Highlandville Cemetery, Highlandville, MO. Online condolences may be shared at
