Carl Otis Hall, age 75 of Ozark, Missouri departed this life Saturday, February 17, 2018. He was born November 11, 1942, in Howell County, West Plains, Missouri the son of Marion Lorenzo and Fern May(Stephenson) Hall and was the youngest of four children. Otis loved his sisters, Geneva Henry and husband Clarence, Eva Taber and husband Ed and Doris Harrington and husband George and his many nieces and nephews. In 1976 Otis was united in marriage to Glenda Kay Frye, bringing together their four children Kristy, Billy, Steven and David. As a teenager in high school Otis worked part time and trained under his cousin, Orville Lee Hall learning to service and repair vehicles, which he cherished as Orville Lee was like a brother to him. Otis worked at various jobs in his younger years but always wanted to be a lineman. He fulfilled that opportunity after being employed with Johnson’s Construction Company for 3 1/2 years and building telephone lines at several locations in the Midwest. Later, Otis was employed with Continental Telephone Company of Missouri, staying with the company through buyouts and name changes for more than 28 years and eventually retired at the age of 50. After a year of living in Wisner, Nebraska and working for Contel Telephone Company as construction supervisor for the state of Nebraska and Goodland, Kansas, Otis had the opportunity to move back to Missouri and work for Contel in Branson. His second career came after his retirement from Contel and he was employed with the City of Nixa. On May 29, 2012 and after 20 years of service, Otis retired as Code Enforcement Manager for the city. After retirement he and Glenda went on an Alaskan cruise which was the last of all the 50 states they traveled during their marriage. They were blessed to go on a Work and Witness trip to St. Lucia and help build on to a church. They also traveled parts of Canada and Mexico. Otis loved his family. His greatest joy was having them gather around him singing and playing their musical instruments, especially during church services. His children and grandchildren followed in his musical footsteps singing in their churches, lead vocalists in a group and using their talents for the Lord as pastors, worship leaders and being a blessing to others. Otis also loved the motorcycle rides with his children and grandchildren and looked forward to weekly lunch with Billy and dinner with Kristy. For more than 30 years, Otis was a dedicated church music director for Ozark First Church of the Nazarene. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent, head trustee on the church board and served the church nursery along with Glenda for many years. His greatest desire was to be helpful to others. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, sister Geneva and brothers-in-law Clarence Henry and George Harrington. Otis is survived by his wife Glenda; children Kristy Kimball and husband Greg, Billy Hall and wife Melissa, Steven Hall and wife Charlotte, David Walker and wife Betty; nine grandchildren, and soon to be 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Jerry Applegate officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
